Skanska is one of the world’s leading project development and construction groups and in the UK, employs 4,600 staff and undertakes £1.3 billion worth of work each year, carrying out all aspects of the construction, development and infrastructure process - from financing projects, through design and construction right through to fit-out, facilities management, operation and maintenance.
We have been involved in some of the country’s most prestigious major projects in both the Private and Public Sectors, responsible for the redevelopment of Barts & The London Hospitals, London Crossrail, for PFS schools development and operation from Bristol to Midlothian, as well as the M25 scheme, which we are undertaking in joint venture.
In addition to large high-profile schemes, we undertake an increasing number of public sector projects including infrastructure improvements, residential development, hard and soft landscaping as well as hundreds of utilities projects each year covering gas, electricity and water.
By combining the skills and experience of our construction operations and those of our Infrastructure Development and Facilities Services Business Units, we have become a UK leader in PFI and PPP schemes covering healthcare, education, defence, transportation and street lighting.
Our built environment asset management and operations business, Skanska Facilities Services provides a full support service to our clients delivering green solutions and enabling them to focus on efficient operations.
Our range of services includes:
Skanska has been named as the number one greenest company in the UK in the 2011 results of the Sunday Times Best Green Companies Awards
Since their launch four years ago, Skanska has been placed in the top five every year – a clear demonstration of our consistent approach to green leadership and performance.
Our green strategy is based on the themes of green leadership, employee engagement and sound environmental performance at project level, underpinned by an external focus on engagement with our supply chain and our clients in a true collaborative way of working.
Our focus is on creating sustainable solutions and in 2011 we have launched our Green Refurbishment partnership in conjunction with GE and Arup.
Our business model is to integrate core disciplines to deliver project solutions and by working together with our clients, our partners and our supply chain, we make a real difference to the way projects are delivered.
We aim to be leaders in green construction, operation and maintenance of the built environment, health and safety and business ethics.
Recognising our responsibility to the communities in which we work, we seek to influence both our clients as well as our supply chain to make more sustainable decisions, taking a longer-term view over the facilities and infrastructure we develop and maintain.
